Battle of Shrewsbury Medieval Weekend Festival 2023
This will take place on the weekend of 22nd & 23rd July 2023!

Here is a little bit about last year's event – We travelled back in time to medieval Shropshire and saw the sights and sounds of everyday life leading up to the battle. We had over 400 re-enactors from all over the country (Scotland to Devon) attending this year's anniversary weekend including horses!

During this great family day out we saw knights in armour and archers preparing for battle, living history including traditional crafts and cookery. We also enjoyed watching terrifying jousting matches, live Battle reenactments and tried our hand at many historical activities. There was 'Bradmore Extractor' demonstrations – Prince Henry, Prince of Wales, was hit in the face with an arrow during the fighting, sustaining a terrible wound. He later recovered due to the skilled treatment of the Physician General John Bradmore, who used honey, alcohol and a specially designed surgical instrument to extract the arrowhead.

There was a market area selling all manner of wares, plus local crafts, organisations and much more. Each day ended with the Battle of Shrewsbury itself where you could choose sides of the rebel army or the King himself.

Battlefield 1403 provided outside catering from 10am to 4pm and were joined by the Pizza Box who were on the field offering a selection of authentic hand made pizzas.

What a fantastic day out for all the family! Battlefield 1403 Farm shop & cafe was open as usual alongside the children's play area and ice cream kiosk!

Look out for news on this year's event soon...
