Battlefield 1403 Covid-19 Site Guidance


Site instructions for visitors to Sparrow's Café.

Due to government legislation still in place all visitors will be required to please follow these instructions;

  • On arrival at the courtyard you will be greeted by a member of staff.
  • Directions will then be given according to the purpose of your visit (shop or café).
  • Café customers will be directed to a reception tent located at the entrance to the café.
  • Queuing on site will respect 2m distancing.
  • Menus will be posted around the site for perusal while you queue.
  • At the reception tent you will be asked for your name and contact details – in compliance with government guidance.
  • You will then be escorted to your table. Tables are both inside and outside.
  • Waitress service will then be provided for the duration of your stay from ordering to payment.
  • Table occupancy time will be restricted to 2 hours from time of ordering.
  • At the end of your meal payment will be taken at your table. Card payments are preferred.
  • Toilets will be available at the bottom of the courtyard.


Additional site guidance for your safety

We operate a one way system in and out of the site.

Hand sanitising stations are provided for all visitors to the site

Customers cannot go from shop to café or vis versa, re queuing in the courtyard will be required.

Staff will all be wearing the appropriate PPE and have been retrained to ensure cleaning is done correctly.

Customers are required to bring their own protective equipment if government guidance requires.

Our risk assessment is available for your viewing if you wish.


Site specific

No picnics allowed on site.

Collections from the shop will be available between 3pm and 5pm Monday to Saturday (unless by prior arrangement).

We will be trialling the use of our second shop till from Saturday 4th July to reduce waiting times.

We will be operating a slightly reduced menu to ensure customer service is smooth and efficient.

The butchery will be reopening on Sundays soon, please watch this space for details.


We have the following measures in place – in addition to our usual day to day cleaning and health & safety systems – to ensure your safety at Battlefield 1403 during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hand sanitising stations positioned at the entrances and inside the building for your use.

Extra hand sanitising facilities behind the scenes for our staff.

Shields on the till.

Face masks are available for our staff when and where needed.

Guide markings on the floor to ensure social distancing is adhered to.

Additional signage to guide you while on site.

Additional checklists for staff cleaning and sanitising including handles and other frequently touched surfaces.

Risk assessments have been done and continue to be carried out to effectively manage the risks to you and our staff.

We are stocking up shelves and replenishing the shop periodically during the day but only when the shop is empty of customers.

We have removed certain sections of food display to increase the space available in the shop.

Door supervisor in place to monitor footfall at key times (only 6 customers allowed into the shop at any one time).

We are able to take contactless payments (the new maximum limit is £45 per transaction).

Our staff are here to help and will respect your space and safety at all times, observing the 2 metre rule.
